Tillage Equipment & Grain Dryers: Red Hot

Sold on a nice farm auction yesterday in south-central Kansas, a 2006 JD 650 disk, 32.5'.....sale price: $38,750. That is nearly $10K higher than any other auction price I've seen on JD 650 disks in last 13 years. I saw a couple late-model disks sell very strong on the big farm auction Dec. 1, 2009 in east-central South Dakota too.

Makes sense. With all the ruts from the late, wet fall harvest I wondered if we wouldn't see values on good used tillage items go way up. I guess so.

Another HOT item: good used grain dryers. Last Saturday on a farm auction in south-central Minnesota, I watched a Farm Fans CMS 420J dryer sell for a record high price. I just posted a video here in the "Farmers For the Future" site, so I think you can click on "Videos" and see it there. Or, just go to http://www.machinerypete.com

Next week I'll shoot video of machinery auctions in KS, IL and MN. Should be fun!

I would like to get your take on boom sprayers for wheat.

Adam,
The 4440 tractors sold for $14K. They had seen better days. The (2) 2009 Chevy 2500 pickups sold kinda light too, $13K & $15,500. The pickups sold almost first thing at the sale, only a few sprayers sold prior. The crowd (especially for such a big sale) was surprisingly small. I think this hurt the pickups, which were all very late model.

Greg, curious as to how much the 09 Chevy 2500's sold for at SWKS auction, also the 4440's? Planned on being there, had things to do that day.

Just posted video with highlights of the Dec. 17th farm auction I covered in southwest Kansas. Strong sale. Good late-model equipment, including a 2010 Peterbilt 388 with 27,960 miles. Don't see those sell at auction every day.

Hope to see you at the sale on the 17th. I'll be the guy in the "Machinery Pete" cap shooting handheld video as equipment sells. See you there!

Yes, I know the person who the Auction is for lives in our county. His son was in my class in H.S. will be quite an auction to go to. Wish I could get a hold of one of the 4440's. Getting rid of all the late-model equip. to buy NEW!. crazy world we live in. However, he has decided to quit the custom-hay totally. Will resume custom-harvesting though.

Adam,
I'm going down to the BIG sale Dec. 17th in Garden City, KS. Sale by Del Peterson & Associates. Bunch of late-model 70 Series Deere combines up for sale, lots other late model equipment. Wish I could have hit Stock Auction Company's sale yesterday in Halstead, KS.....very strong prices, like that JD 650 disk!
