Well I was drreaming about farming again then my five year old daughter came in... "Music dady? Two Tear Drops? Swing dance daddy?" When you partner weighs in at 40 pounds she can really flip! Then just like that she's gone on to the next thing that strikes her fancy. Such is life.
I bought a couple of poly tanks this week to temporarily hold a load of 28% nitrogen. Now I can order semi loads off the river and bypass the coop on the bulk stuff. I had a conversation about using the coop injector as part of the seed and P/K fertilizer deal. I'll still have to buy some 28% from them for the partial semi overage. Besides saving $ on purchase price I wont have to nurse it 1000 gallons at a time. I should have done this last year but I wasnt sure I would survive to see a second year.
I was thinking about going to 12/23 planter but havnt found anything I like. It seems rediculous to go to such a big planter for 260 acres but I figured I would be in a position to expand or do some custom work. It would also let me plant my stuff faster. Given my day job that may be important some day. Cash is also going to be a little tight this spring given what happened this week.
What happened this week.... The wife bought 63 acres outside of town this week. It looks like we will be building a house this spring along with planting crop two. I guess we can call it our northern operation. It will be good to get these kids out on some land. Last night a friend wanted me to tag along to Cabela's. I ended up buying a little 10-22 to celebrate. I cant wait to have a red heeler again. It will be a few years but the plan is to put the ground to hay for the local horse market.
Suppose I need to get cracking on the honey do list.....
