Corn harvest is finally starting, although at a snails pace. Nobody wants to dry corn this year for the simple face that they took a beating on wheat dockage and can't afford the same with corn. Corn yields have been hit or miss so far, anywhere from 140 to 245. Had one dryland field cut a bumper 85 bu average. Glad it was a test plot and the seed was free. There have been a few group 3 beans cut, they have been in the neighborhood of 80 bu, which for our area on a group 3 is awesome. I think beans will be good this year, looking forward to putting some wheat in the ground.

Well we have not started yet, but our hailed corn might make 60-80bu/ac. The best corn will be in the 110-130bu/ac range which is really good for our area. Local elevator wont take it till its 15.5 moisture, so we plan to start by end of this week.

beans planted the week before easter avg about 23 bpa because of the drought. finished planting sugacane on the 4th and now getting ready for the harvest starting on the 1st of oct. 600 left out of 1000 on beans and they were all over from 25 to 65 bpa. avg was 34 on about 340 acres. hopefully the weather gets better for us.

We started last Saturday. We've only done corn, with an average yeild for the entire field at 200 bpa. The moisture averaged 20-22%, with some spikes both ways. We're stopped until Sun or Mon also due to the past 2 1/2 days of rain.

For the most part we are still waiting to get going. I had a 3.5 acre bean plot that we cut last week, that avg 68 bpa, but that has been it. I've been going to try some corn the last 2 days, but we have had a mist and rain both days.

We started beans on 18th. We traded our 9600 for a 9660 sts. The machine was sopose to be ready to go but when we took it to the feild and ran 10 feet and it slugged up. Found out that JD tech had not fastened the feeder house drum in. JD fixed that problem and we ran 22 acres off that night 17 per acre which is good for the hail damage the neighbor 1/2 mile south was doing 5 bushel beans. We ran from 10:00 to 2:30 on Saturday and then we could not keep the rotor speed up. Found a oil leak on the rotor drive pulley. It was a 2 minute fix but no dealer in a 100 miles had parts. So we were shut down till Monday. Monday it rained we got back in feild last night still a little muddy but we were able to run.

Bryan: Thanks for your report. We're planning a tour of parts of Missouri as part of our fall Crop Tech Tour. Hope we'll get there in time. I think we're going to see some rain delays up this way in Iowa now. Good luck with the rest of harvest and thanks again for the good info. -- John Walter, Agriculture Online
