March 21st - 25th

21st – I haven’t had any new baby calves since my premature calf I lost. I bought a group of cows that could have started the 15th and all my first calf heifer should be anytime. I am beginning to get a little nervous. I checked cows and heifers and headed to Randolph to drop our pasture maps off at the Co-op. Chris said they should get it done in the next couple of days. I ran to the bank and to my Pioneer dealers before running to Red Oak. I had to stop at Orschlen’s,…

March 8th - March 20th

8th – I began the day hauling corn to UFMC in Red Oak. On my 1st trip home I noticed a cow circling. Went out and checked her, and she had a calf. Ryan’s shop is heated where they are working on the planter, so I thought it would be as good of a time as any to get my planter tractor clean. I cleaned the inside the best I could and Ryan and I put a coat…

Pasture Rental Rates?

Anybody have insight about pasture rental rates? Im trying to settle a deal for me to rent the pasture and have him watch the cows for me too.  Whats the going rate? Its good pasture, creek flowing through it, with decent fence.
