"Try to find feed ingredients that can pencil out.   Also push the pencil to different wieghts of buying and selling.  If you have a feed nutritionist, they should help you locate cheaper feed ingredients and make rations pencil…"

high feeder calf prices with high corn prices what to do ?

my dad and i  raise cattle and crops. we have 20 cows that we get our own calves out of but we also have a feedlot.  last year we ran 150 head feedlot with room for around 240. we have been slowly expanding in both crop acres and the feedlot, but with feeder cattle prices at 1.30 + an corn prices at 7.00 + it doesn' t pencil out buying feeder cattle. we are looking at buying breed cows this fall when everyone is dumping them. our idea is calve them out, fatten up the cows dump them, and then…See More
