Thistle problem

I rented land this year and the thistle problem is BAD ! I want to take the hay off spray and replant alfalfa, farmers do it all the time around us. What can I spray with to get a handle on the thistle problem. Or would I be better off putting corn on next year and then hay. I have the land rented for four years and need the hay, and not the corn, any ideas would be a big help. Terry

"CB I went and looked at the ground. About 30 Ac. about 10 of it is good the rest needs to be tore up and reseeded. I have all the equipment. It sounds like he wants to rent the land, the land sat in CRP for years and he doesn't fertilize.…"

"Hey Terry, Off the top of my head, I would rent the land, you have more options. One thing is if the hay is not very good would he still pay for his half or if the hay is great would he pay market value. Question? Do you have the haying equipment…"

Shares or rent ?

We have a goat dairy in S. WI we have 40 ac. and buy most of our hay. Our neighbor has about 35 ac. that he has been bailing very little alfalfa left in the stand. He has no equipment but needs hay should I rent the land and sell him back the hay that he needs or do this on shares ? If I rent the land I pay for everything if we do it on shares who pays for seed etc. With this land not being farmed correct for so many years inputs will be high to bring the soil to where it needs to be.
