Branding

Posted on May 5, 2009 at 5:00pm 2 Comments

We branded the calves last Monday. Here are some pictures of the process. Calves got a brand, vaccinated with an 8-way and a shot of ivermectin. We also ran the cows through and vaccinated them.

Early on, lots of calves waiting to go through.

Poor baby, thankfully it only takes a few seconds and we are done. The calves are filling the chute up pretty good already.

Im going to ask a dumb question... Can you make a living on 100-150 head in those parts? What type of live calf percetage do you get from cow exposed to the bulls?

I always like processing calves and cows and sending them off to "summer camp". Its a releif to get them out of the lots and they kick up thr heals all the way to green grass. How many head does your family run?
