Morgan McNeal replied to Casey L.'s discussion Considering round balers
"We had a hesston 5500 baler. It was old, but very simple, easy to fix. They take quite along time to wrap the twine though since you have to do it manually but it works and for only 200 to 300 bales it would be good enough. We finally traded that…"

"I think its a great program. I received what you might call a microloan from FSA when i was 16. It was 5000 dollars and i used it to purchase some heifers. It worked out really well. I remember at the time they were begging me to get others…"

Bringing Urbanites and Country together

Posted on January 4, 2010 at 8:01pm 3 Comments

I have spent the past few hours scanning blogs and forums dealing anywhere from sustainable agriculture to very liberal ideas of all people should be on vegan diets, and we should stop the production of livestock, then on to livestock cruelty and etc. etc.

The biggest thing i have noticed while reading is they are what they are, they are just blogs, people on both sides of the issue who can say what they feel without having to take actual credit for what they say. No one knows who… Continue

I use to have the same theory about air, but every time I look at tilled ground after a rain its so compacted it scary, and everything ran off.....yet, go look at a no-till field or even CRP and its not the case. I do believe that guys with lots of heavier soils might enjoy tillage over no-till or strip-till, but here in our sandy plains, moisture is factor No.1.

I don't blame you. I'd be real scared buying a tractor with that many hours on it.

Hey, I just noticed your comment you left on my page back in November (which is sad I know). Did you end up doing anything on the 2-135 with 7900 hours?

Yeah thanks. I found it online at a dealer in east central Indiana. I can't wait to start square baling with it next year.

Hey Morgan, good to hear of another guy that got in the biz like I did. Sounds like you had a good start into business, let me tell ya one thing..those fancy machines are nice, but if you can find work with older machines you'll be way more money ahead by running them. Thanks for your comments!

We had an Inch and a half in one place was all so we might try a sample tomorrow, realistically it will be Tuesday I think. First off tomorrow, we have to go pull dads combine out lol. Had about 3 inches of rain where we were sitting there.

Hey, if you read High Plains Journal, you can keep up on the harvest here the next couple of weeks through Jennas' blog, as her and her family are here helping us out. Red and Green are fixing to coexist lol :) well good luck with your harvesting this year. Let me know how it's going for ya! Ttyl!

Hallo Morgan! to be more precise in my article, can you tell me how big your farm is ? Thank you in advance!

Thank you once again! Do you agree to use your name in my article? I would like to describe polish farmers how it looks like in US, to show them if it's the same or quite different than in Poland and it will be much better if they could rely on interview with someone who lives there.
