I currently work on a large dairy outside of Bellevue, IA. Which I truly enjoy. I work part time currently and hoping to go full time soon. I have to get rid of my city job! On the farm, I take care of young stock and other chores, and don't have to do milkings, since we have other people to do that. But I have to clean the free stalls and put sand in the barn when needed. So, thats a little about what I do. If you want to know anything else, just ask I will let you know anything...
I would like to quit my job in the city and get back to the farm where i belong. However the only problem that I have is my wife does not like that idea. She says my job in the city is good, and it would hurt if i quit to farm. Even though, if money was not a issue she would be willing to farm. (she grew up on a farm). I just want to know how i can convince her to go farming with me? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
I think I maybe sort of in a pickle. I really want to get started farming again, but I also have a high paying job in town, which I enjoy. I would like to gradually get into farming. I want to start slow buy some crop ground and raise cattle and then when I am ready bring in the cows and go all the way.. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this started.. I been looking at information, but not sure what way to go.
