First crop is looking good by me too. We still have awhile before we start cutting hay though.

Hi Mark,

I just thought I would drop you a quick note to introduce myself. Welcome to FFTF. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want some help getting your network going.

Hi Mark Trumm, Welcome to Farmers For the Future. I see you're from WI too. What a great state, (America's Dairyland).

About Me

I own and operate a family farm with my dad in southwest Wisconsin(Grant County). We started an LLC about 8 yrs ago to get me involved with the family farm. We have about 100 Holstein dairy cows, that we still milk in a stanchion barn. We also run about 180 cow/calf pairs with 160 of them as fall fresheners and the remainder are spring cows. We just downsized or dairy operation by about 50 cows and increased our beef herd by about 100 over the last 5 yrs.. Our beef herd consists mostly of herford/ limousine, herford/angus, and angus/ limousine crossed cows. We are in the process of getting our beef herd built up to around 225-250. Within the next 10-12 years I would like to get out of the dairy business and rely only on the beef and eventually getting my herd built up to around 400-500 cow/calf pairs. I would also like to start a small on the the farm butcher shop and retail meat market within the next 10-12 yrs
