"Looks like you have a very well organization. Nice photo's. That looks like hard work. How many times a day do you milk those cows? Look like they have lots of genetics in them."

"Looks like a nice set up for claves you got there. Wish we had that when we milked cows. We had a pole barn with wire panles for pens."

"Hi neighbor! I guess you are close! I've only lived in Orangeville a year now, but so far its been a pretty nice area. Looks like you've got some awfully cute goats down in Cedarville!"

Just a little about me -- I'm managing my grandparents' dairy, Mil-R-Mor Farm, in Orangeville, IL. We have 135 milk cows (mostly Registered Holstein, some grades for E.T. recipients, and a couple of Swiss), and raise our own heifers, along with dairy steers and bulls for natural service. In addition to producing milk, we also have a strong focus on selling breeding stock. We (mostly my brother and uncle) run about 2,000 acres of crop ground, so we grow all our own forages. I graduated from Iowa State in December of '07 after internships at a dairy magazine, an ag consulting company, and with the Foreign Ag Service. Farming full-time was never in the orginal plans, but I'm really pleased with the way it has worked out so far. We have 6 family members who pitch in around the farm, and also a few non-family employees. It's a labor-intensive operation, so we work hard but also enjoy what we do.
