Horning crop proceesors from southeast pa are the best on the market. We put one on 2 years ago, and it was one of the best things we ever did.

Karissa, It takes some horse power to run the thing. If the silage starts to get dry, that is were it pays off. The cows digests better with dry corn if it is already cracked. Wehave run one for years. CB Sowder

no doubt but what dairy farmers are a different breed! I've never milked in a tie-stall stanchion barn, but I have milked in several other types. mostly herringbones, but I milked in a twin-double-two tandem for a while. That was very tedious, as we were milking about 120 head with 2 people running the milkers and we weighed and recorded each cow's production twice per day. I sure don't miss that!

I don't know if you have seen it or not yet, but there is a group for dairy farmers on this website at: http://farmersforthefuture.ning.com/group/futuredairyfarmersoftheworld

I have milked some before, but I was not reared on a dairy. I helped out at my friend's some on the weekends so we could get out and about quicker. I also helped out a little bit on the UK experiment station when I had friends that worked there. the profession of a dairyman is not for the weak of heart!
