Grain Storage Bags

Posted on March 1, 2010 at 1:00am 2 Comments

Is there anyone else out there with any experience with grain storage bags??? We used them this past fall for corn harvest in NW Kansas/E Colorado...lots of nice things about them and a few things that can be scary! In my opinion of them the #1 best thing about it is ease of harvest.....didn't hardly run our trucks..ran one 2388, and two grain carts to the edge of the field and averaged 140 acres a day on Irrigated, less harvest help needed, able to harvest about a week earlier than everyone… Continue

What milo do you recommend for dryland western oklahoma area could be looking for 500 acres of full season. And 12-1500 of the 90day. From what the old timers tell me I want bronze....yellow doesn't work here

johnathan, I would like to find out how your kugler meeting turned out, and ask you some questions about dryland corn and milo.  Drop me a line when you can.  Thanks!

Jonathan,

I was wondering do you know information on the root characteristics of channels corn and bean varieties?  My seed salesman is a good friend, but neither him or his boss know anything about the roots.  I have been spoiled over the years with cropland's 7 R's which tells you about the roots and breeding background of their varieties.

Yes that answered my question. We run a speedy cutter and a heath cutter. The heath does not do a good job. Lately we have waited till the beans are dry enough to cut standin, then we run our cutters through and cut. The cutters will usually cut all the beans so we dont have to run a rod. And there is minimal loss if you can cut with a good dew. I was just wonderin about the cutter because im looking for a new one. Does the orthman does a good job.

Hey hows it goin. When you commented on one of my discussions. I had a few questions. When we was talkin about the beans and the best combine, you said that you might go for direct cutting instead of knifing them. I was wondering what kind of cutter you use and if you run a rod with the cutter. Also do you cut them when the are dry or when the field is 70 to 80 percent turned

Hey how are things out west? Has the hail been staying away? I have been seeing you have been getting some moisture out that way. SO far things are pretty good here.

Thanks Michael and Jeff, I have enjoyed this site alot so far. Yeah....wish the Cats could have pulled it off...Clemente can be so brilliant at times and then turn around and make 10 bone-head shots in a row. And yes it is nice to see some other NW Kansas folks on here. Keep in touch guys.
