"What we do is for a new seeding is always plant into bean stubble, the nitrogen fixated by the beans help the oats and seeding get off to a good start. The alfalfa will of course also fix nitrogen, but I believe it's not until about 6 inches of…"

Joe Miller replied to Ross Collins's discussion Worth Buying More Iowa Farm Ground??
"I'm in southeast Iowa and if I had a chance at ground that has a CSR of 88 and the price was $5,000/acre I'd jump on that in a heartbeat. I just bought 30 bred heifers with an FSA loan and the paperwork is a nightmare but the savings on…"

Hey Joe,

Was wondering if you ever decided on a cattle building.  I finally pulled the trigger on one.  It is going to be a Legacy building, which is a gable roof covered in fabric.  I am going through the engineering on it right now so we can get to the Dept. of Ag.   If you are interester I will put you in contact with the rep.  They have an office in Belle Plain, IA.
