Agreed. I am a dfa member also, and the crisis maybe be easing, but we have a lot of ground to make up. Dairy farmers have lost on average $100/cow/month since the first of the year. thats a lot of money to make up.

They need fluid milk bad with school back in session. There is growing support for a milk dump. If things don;t change soon, I think it may happen.

Powder is part of the problem. It is selling on the world market for $1.30/lb., but only $.92/ lb here in the US. Every processors is looking for milk right now, but won;t pay more for it. We don;t have a supply and demand problem in the US. We have…

Now is the time to buy into dairy if you have the money and equity to start. cow prices are low, and a lot of guys are looking for the right chance to cut bait and get out. You'll have a tough start with the prices right now, but long term, I think…

Not a huge suprise...that seems to be what most of the gov't is about. Even the republicans have been thinking this way. Some of the american people are even starting to believe this way. It is really scaring looking into the future.

Using this for silage may not even be great idea. It would be loaded with toxins, and may cause problems at feed-out. This is just a sad situation.

We have cleared some land that was being overtaken by small brush. Had a guy with a small excavator with a blade on it. He dug up the brush and pushed it into piles. We burned some of them, and just pushed some of the others into the woods. We had a…

Luke, we are not dealing witht he same issue (water), but in a way we are. Dairy farmers across the country are losing equity everyday. Most of this is gov't related. I truly feel that the gov't wants us to be reliant on other countries for our food…

Find a copy of the Farm and Dairy paper. It is published weekly, and usually has jobs listed in it in the Ag industry.

Didn't you know that cows make cheese and butter. Visited Seattle when I was in college. Went up the space needle (or whatever its called), and could see the bay. In the port, there was a ship being loaded. It looked like corn, so I asked the girl w…

Obama's grenn jobs czar, Van Jones (self-proclaimed communist) said that american farmers are killing the minority communities in a March '09 speech. No wonder ag gets a bad wrap from the white house/gov't. This guys thinks we should all be organic…

I have never borrowed from FSA after some of the loans I ahve seen them give out over the last few years. Gave money to guys that shouldn't be getting more, and got other guys into situations that they never should have been in. I have had great lu…

Dairy Farmers Need your help!!!

Dairy Farmers need your help. We are getting paid less than a dollar per gallon while it is still over $3 in the store. Cheese is worse. Consumers and farmers are getting screwed while the processors and retailers are rakin in the profits. Something better change soon or the dairy industry will rely on imports (from China?) for all dairy foods.

We seem to gaining some momentum in DC. 300 farmers attened the ag comittee hearing yesterday, and our voice is starting to be heard. Your senators and… Continue
