My friend and mentor, Susie Gibbs of Martha's Vineyard Fiber Farm is doing something extraordinary: She's giving away a beautiful starter herd of mohair goats, to a deserving fiber shepherd or shepherd-wanna-be. They just have to write a compellin...
Hi Aliyah,
I'm new to FFTF and saw your question as I scanned the discussions.
I'm using the CSA model, but not with veggies, but with fiber. I'm networked with lots of handspinners and knitters and people who just love to support local farmers. ...
Get in touch with Brad Stufflebeam at Home Sweet Farm outside of Brenham. He has an organic veggie CSA that is going great guns. www.homesweetfarm.com
I've been a big fan of his for a while, though I'm in North Central Texas and raise fiber animal...
Hi Katy,
I used to be a childbirth educator and birth doula. The L&D nurses and midwives I worked with definitely noticed the corollation. Full moons and low barometric pressure periods. Water starts breakin' all over the place! Surely the critter...
Hi Michelle,
I just started using it. At first it seemed just kind of fussy and vapid, but now I'm seeing how people use it to post links to interesting articles, their own blogposts, fellow bloggers. I'm still learning how to harness the networki...
We have alot in common I just bought a flock of chicken 14 of them only a month old need a coup fast!!
I am breeding my alpacas and selling the fiber males. Only have 10 animals right now.
I also belong to a spinning group but I can't afford the wheel so I use the drop spindle and I'm great at dropping it!!!! I go for the alpaca smack...but I do need to get serious with the fiber...I've tried felting very easy. But what to make??? I think I would like rug making/weaving???
I don't really know much about RSS but well learn. I visited yours and I read just a couple of stories...I have a couple also:
I was pulling alpaca pellets out of a 50lb bag and had fulled three bowls and looked into the bag and there was a snake...Whew. It was only 2.5 feet long but I'm sure glad it didn't want to bite!!!
Another story I have a LGD Anatolian Shepard and he decided to enlarge his territory so he jumps a 5ft chain link fence every evening and jumps back in (if I don't call him back in) in the morning! I have invisible fencing but took his collar off so he would come into the yard when I call. I just love him!!! I have a collar on his girl friend though so she stays in the yard. The male mostly stays near the alpacas on the outside of the fence! I noticed he added to his diet... a rabbit the other day. He is really true to his ancestors. This is how they lived in Turkey so I understand! And yes he never gets in trouble for leaving the yard because he comes when I call.
Hey there my good buddie! Wow, don't you have a lot of activity going on here! You are so good. How in the world do you find the time to keep up with everything? I feel like I'm drowning....
Can't wait 'til this weekend! Whew! Is it here yet???

I am new to this group and it looks like you are too. Since we both need a little help getting our network going, I am going to add you as a friend if that’s ok.
