Yes a 42 & 4840, very solid and dependable tractors.  42 has 9000 and 48 has 6000hrs.  Sorry for the late reply, haven't been on here much lately.

I think theres about 2200 on the tach, but not actual. One of the best tractors JD ever made along with the 4020 in my opinion, especially for it's time. Hell, theres still alot of them in the field. Most only see light work now a days, but there are a few of us small guys around here who use it for almost everything. When I started looking for a tractor, it was no question on which one to get to do everything. Prices on this things are red hot here of late. I saw the article Machinery Pete did on 3 low hour machines including a 47 hour one that brought 58000!! About 25K more than it cost new. Mines not perfect. Looking to put some more updates on it like steps, mirrors and a chrome stack!!! I totally redid the cab when I got it. put a AMFMCD in it with remote as it's hard to adjust the radio in a bumpy field. You said you have a couple of 40 series deeres right?
