Hey

Im a senior now and college is getting closer. I have applied to Murray, WKU, Tulane, and shortly will have my application sent to Penn State and Colorado State. I've chosen International Agribusiness as my intended major and would prefer to go to Murray. I should find out the results of my applications in a few months and start college in the fall of 2010. I'm really excited. I just wanted to thank everybody for all the comments and help that ya'll hav given me on my search for… Continue

hey Chelsie,
i was just curious as to how your college search was going. I was in a very similar situation about a year and a half ago. I really want to get involved with my family farm, but at the same time I didn't want to tie myself down to it. My fear was that I would get into farming, and after a few years decide farming wasn't for me. I know that working on the farm part time with school is very different than working full time year around, which is what made me uneasy. I ended up going to Penn State and majoring in Agriculture Business. I still plan on getting involved with the family farm when I graduate, but with a degree, I am not nearly as tied down to farming for the rest of my life. If I decide, at 40 years old, that I don't want to farm anymore, I have something to fall back on. I realize that this may or may not be helpful, but I just figured since this was a similar kind of situation, I would let you know what's going on with me.

We Were Mostly into Grain Farming. I'm One of the
last out of my family that still has the interest in Farming.
Which Sucks because I would Like to See My Family succeed in
Farming in the Future. But I Guess It's OK Because If I do have
kids they will be farmers too Just like me! :D
