So I've been busier than a farmer with two rattlesnakes and one hoe. And there have been a few points along the past several months where I came very close to getting bit. During the spring months, I…Continue

Hi All! I am trying to get a little email newsletter out that is mainly geared towards young folks. People in their later high school and early college years would be the main target, er, focus. But, I certainly think having some more experienced people on board with this would be excellent for feedback as well. The point you ask? To get in contact with young people who are forward thinking and who are going to be tomorrow's business owners, politicians, and wave makers. I would like to discuss…See More

Update Quickie

Been a busy fall. Senior year actually isn't the easiest part of your schooling career I've found. It's nuts! Tomorrow, I leave home about an hour before the sun wakes up to go visit a junior college in Sterling. Colleges from several parts of the country have been calling, trying to get a commitment from me. I have solidly set out on the Veterinary path, and hope that in hindsight it's a wise decision. Livestock judging is really taking me places, and not just to college. In one week, I'll be…See More

DVM - Good Goal?

"Dr. Christensen, the next prolapsed feedlot heifer with a two day old dead calf inside will see you now." Ever tried to get the smell of rotting embryonic fluid off your jacket? I hung mine on the pickup truck overnight. I have no grand illusions of being a vet. It's a tough job, and usually a foul smelling and bloody one at that. I have a strong stomach, and don't mind blood or needles, or even guts. I recently spent a day at a vet clinic in Greeley mostly as a spectator on some of the daily…See More

Update From Peyton

So I've been busier than a farmer with two rattlesnakes and one hoe. And there have been a few points along the past several months where I came very close to getting bit. During the spring months, I competed to the top of the Colorado state judging circuit, earning 8 All State points putting me in the lead and giving me the opportunity to represent the state of Colorado at the Stockmen's Classic in Indiana this October with three other outstanding Colorado judgers. I had the blessing the sweep…See More

The Times They Are a Changin'

426 pound steer calves brought a $1.65 last week. How many people thought they'd live to see calves post a price like that? My question is, where in the world are the cheap corn prices that are allowing the feedyards to pay that kind of money? This is a case where I highly doubt these calves were headed to the feed pens, but calves are still incredibly strong. I've been making enough money on the one or two steers I throw in with Dad's bunches to start my own little show herd and hold on to… Continue

Long Time, No Blogging

Today I just happened to look back through some of my posts made earlier in the year. I noticed my judging and 4-H livestock came up relatively often. To give an overview, I was the reserve champion livestock judge in Colorado at the 4-H State Conference at CSU, and was the high individual in livestock quiz bowl. Very happy with that. We also had a decent year with our livestock at county fair. Christe's hog won its class and made the champion drive. I ended up showing two lambs and both made… Continue

Past Couple Weeks at MYT Farms

Posted on May 17, 2010 at 10:24am 0 Comments

The MYT Farms web site has been up for a couple weeks now. These next few days will see many new pictures added and some new site updates as well. Over two different judging contests I was 4th and then 3rd high individual overall. Low and behold, we went to the Gunnison contest this weekend I dropped 56 points right off the floor. Still don't have reasons scores, but I was 9th overall in reasons. Sort of disappointing, but I have the Grand Junction contest and then we go to Kearney, NE for our… Continue

hey cade,
no, i got a 350 in my truck. the body has got some rust. i need both sides of both doors, a cab corner, and rear whel wells. the estimate for painting (the bottom silver area only not the black) and metal repair was $2,400. piss on that. everything else is in good shape. i just rolled 99,000 miles. i am on the look out for a 2007 3500, reg cab long bed duramax. something with high miles. i think me and my buddy can fix whats wore from high miles, and drop a cummins 6.7 in her. dont get me wrong duramax is good, but you cant beat an allison and a cummins.
