Who has landed the big buck?

I missed a monster last Friday night. I seen him again Sunday morning but no shot. Third time is a charm I hope.

Thank you for all the information. The website was helpful and I will contact my local FSA office.

FSA has some beginning farmer loan programs, however, no one, including the government is going to loan 100 percent of the cost from the get go and you need to consider that land won't be your only cost, it's only a piece of the pie. Do you have any…

Check with your local FSA office, there should be a loan manager that covers several counties in your area and they will be able to help you with all the paperwork and hoops you have to jump through. I just got done doing all of this this spring and…

Getting started help

I from Southern Illinois. I found 255 acres of good pasture ground with a little bit of woods. The ground has an old house, an old large barn, and a silo on it. The price per acre is cheap for the area, but the overall price is around $700,000. I think I have a pretty good plan as to making money on this property with beef cattle and other options such as renting the house for hunters, fishermen, and horse riders. The problem is that it will take a couple of years to get it all going, so I do no… Continue

Hey Brandon I hope you can find some help man. I'm trying to buy a farm to and looking for loan/Gov. help. Only logical suggestion I can give you IF the ground is tillable you could rent it to grain farmers for the first few years. you wouldn't have any additional expense in the farm that way and you'd be making some money. Or if you don't want to do that and have/can get the equipment, you can square bale all of the hay off of it. Square bale hay sales for about 5-8 bucks a bale around here depending on the type and quality of the hay. There's a pretty big demand for it.
