Hi Barb! Thanks for finding me. I love the idea of having some other animals (cow, chickens). Look forward to hearing about your adventures with the heifer.
Another group you might like is CattleGrower and of course alpacasocial. CattleGrower sounds like it's all cattle but it has groups for alpaca people, horses, etc. Lots of "cowgirls" there. :)
no good news here. People losing there homes right and left. One friend is going to sell her whole herd of suri's also. I'm tiring to hang on my self...my other business is concrete delivery and there is nothing there either! My herd is small and I was hoping to grow it and then be in a better position when things get better ....but quit frankly I have lost my enthusiasm for just about every thing!
welcome to Farmers of the Future...I'm really a bit of a rancher having a small herd of alpacas....the people here seem so knowledgeable that I can't even comment. I read the stuff and try to learn...
How exciting a cow and making cheese and butter. I'll enjoy reading about that. I'm on alpacasocial.com also. Same format!
I am new to this group and it looks like you are too. Since we both need a little help getting our network going, I am going to add you as a friend if that’s ok.
Hello, I just found your website and am looking forward to meeting fellow farmers. My husband and I have been raising alpacas for 10 years. I also have some laying hens and sell eggs. I am planning on purchasing my first Dexter heifer and plan on milking her when she has her calf in May. It will be my newest adventure. I am hope to be able to make butter and cheese. If anyone has any advice for me I would welcome it. Barb
