"I would say they would have less compaction as they have a flatter footprint, the goodyears are so rounded I think they tend to put more weight in the center of the tire. As far as tractor tires, I don't know if there would be the same amount…"

"I've switched all my tires to Firestone over the past couple of years. Their often more expensive than Goodyear or Titan, but they wear much better. On MFWD Front tires in my experience, Firestone will run nearly twice as long as Goodyears. On…"

Looking for summer/fall 2011 hired hand

Posted on December 17, 2010 at 2:06pm 0 Comments

Hey everybody, I'm  starting my search for 2011 help early this year in hopes that I might find some GOOD help for next year lol.

I'm looking for an individual to run combine And truck. Previous experience is somewhat a plus, but at the same time someone with no prior experience wouldn't be bad either (less bad habits to break) :) Possession of or willing to obtain a CDL Class A or at minimum Class B is necessary. And since it's custom harvesting you don't have to be 21,…

Wasn't too great,  who you harvesting for?  Be neat to meet up!  Irrigated yields anywhere from 17-45 with dryland acres from 20-30.

I cut a couple thousand plus my own... I decided not to travel this year, everyone I talked to up north said it wasn't worth the trip.

Where does your run take you?

Good look and be safe

Definitely more to look at up here than in OK! Yes we do mostly malt barley but also a bit of spring wheat. We've been able to negotiate some really good contracts for barley so we're sticking to that, primarily. With our leased stuff included, we do about 3,000 acres in total. Yeah I heard the custom cutters around here just ditched out and headed South when the rain came. They weren't screwing around, haha.

Glad to see that you found a nice red combine. I think you will find it to be a good machine.

Thanks for the input on the chem-fallow discussion. Sounds like you can do chem-fallow fairly cheaply... maybe we are just spending more than we need to on chemical. Barley harvest is going well! We were shut down for 3 weeks due to some bad weather - even a light snow storm! Things are up to speed again but there is a little damage here and there, some green still, too. But yields are looking good and everyone is begging for barley so we are happy! How are things in your neck of the woods?
