A press release today from Dairy Farmers of America, announcing $8.8 mln in special payments to members, said that "signs of market improvements and declining input costs [are] suggesting the dairy crisis is easing."

Just wondering if you're getting that same sense?

Anybody belong to DFA?

We belong to DFA and they are full of @#$%&*! Milk cows in Kentucky and my price is determined by the price of butter in Boston. Missed my district meeting tonight the sun was shining and we planted wheat on one side and ran beans on the other. Also to top it off today the guy driving the milk truck threaten to leave my milk because we were 1 degree to high.

Agreed. I am a dfa member also, and the crisis maybe be easing, but we have a lot of ground to make up. Dairy farmers have lost on average $100/cow/month since the first of the year. thats a lot of money to make up.

you should all read the article I posted on my blog here. It came from dairyagendatoday.com a website that I work for in advertising and sales.

I think that even getting 2 dollars more per hundred weight is helping to pay our exsiting bills but we have months of bills to make up for. I don't know if you have heard of the milk protein concentrate debate, but mpc are used in many of our dairy products from kraft cheese singles to processed cheese, and these companies are importing mpc which are not allowed for use in US in food. These other countries often have less strict laws on milk handling.
