The future of agricultural water use and treatment

Hi, everyone -- I'm writing a story for Water Canada magazine regarding agricultural water use and I'd love to hear from your community.

What does the farm of the future look like when it comes to water use? What technologies and/or methods, as they pertain to water conservation or water treatment, do you see coming into common practice on farms in the next ten years?

General thoughts or specific suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance for your valuable input.

I think we have had a discussion in the past on water, you should search for it, it had some pretty good debates on it.

Water use per unit of production will continue to decrease thanks to adoption of better base genetics in crops and the GMO traits that complement them. Precision ag technology will also allow for more accurate application of all crop inputs, including water.

Water right's here in Michigan right now we have to report the use we use and they are tring to take the water right's and put them in their control but that is a bill tring to get pushed threw. WE have a low pressure piovit that we use and we also dewater a lot of ground to.
