Anyone hear anything regarding the timing of the money starting to flow??? I know payments were to have started in November 2009 but I also was told that the NRCS offices still had not even started training on paperwork at that time.

We got crushed by excessive rain and cool summer temps in 2008 - woke up at 42-degrees out on August 9th in NW Missouri!

we just went up to the acs office today and they said there going start adding intrest onto the payments because its taking so long to get them
Soo..... Is this change we can believe in?? I told my NRCS office they need to change the program name from SURE to SOMDAY. I was clear to ensure they understood I knew they were doing everything they could - they just didn't have the forms or the training to fill them out.
You would have to ask your NRCS office - But I am pretty sure ACRE and SURE are two different programs. One you sign up for and one you qualify for. To qualify for SURE you simply have to show that all insurable crops were insured - then the payment is dependant on your harvest.

My area was crushed by excessive rain and cool or even cold temps. It may have even recieved a government designation - I am not sure.
I guess I am lost on this one. What is the SURE program.
SURE is the SUpplemental REvenue Program. SURE is considered to be the replacement to traditional FSA Disaster Programs, and requires that producers protect all crops/commodities in all counties* in order to be eligible.

ACRE is the Average Crop Revenue Election. It is an option for farms that are enrolled in the DCP (Direct/Counter-cyclical Program, aka- grain program). To be eligible, a farm must have "base acres" and be actively farmed and in Wetland/HELC compliance.

Both programs are administered through your local Farm Service Agency office and both are provisions of the new Farm Bill. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me and I will do my best to give you more information or direct you to where you can learn more.
