Permalink Reply by Adam on January 23, 2012 at 8:52pm Haven't heard of recapped ag tires.... but. I guess there's always a chance? not looking forward to 4 new ones on a 4840 we have.
10 year busting tires and I've never seen a recap on a ag tractor (18.4 or 20.8 ect) I think the tire has to much flex to keep the cap on. I have seen many recaps on industrial tires (14.00-24, to 23.5r25 ect).
It is winter time and most tire shops have some spare time to mount a set of tires. This is the best time to get it done, let the tire shops bid against each other. Also ask if they have any good used tires or any adjustments. One our tractor we put 2 new tires on the inside and 2 used tires on the outside duals (that saved us about $1800)
let me know what size and I could tell you about what a goodyear/titan should run
Permalink Reply by Brad Jarden on February 9, 2012 at 9:01pm ive never seen recapped tractor tires. I have had some skidloader tires recapped. It is cheaper than new ones, but you get what you pay for. They don't wear very good. I agree with Tim Look into some used tires.
i run solid tires on my skidsteer with super deep tread and love them . my tire guys says it used to be common practice years ago to recap them but hes not sur enow hes, going to check into it i can understand if the side walls are real old or chunks out of em but what about tires that were run on a slurry tanker tractor that are good castings but just flat faced from road work .
