Can anyone tell me where the best place to look for beginning farmer loans/government programs? I am having trouble finding and understanding the loans. There is surely some government programs that help with beginning farmers, but I can't seem to find them. Any help would be appreciated.
Check with your local FSA office, there should be a loan manager that covers several counties in your area and they will be able to help you with all the paperwork and hoops you have to jump through. I just got done doing all of this this spring and summer and even though it takes time and alot of agrevation to jump through all the hoops its worth it to get a low interest Farm Ownership loan.
The max for a Land Puurchase is $300,000 and there is a couple of different options of the way the loan can be structured, Dont forget though that FSA will not make a complete loan they will loan less than half and the rest has to come from commercial lending and your down payment.
I think its 200,000 through fsa unless they up the amount in the last 2 years. I bought my farm throught them when i did it you could borrow 200,000 and if you do a bridge loan you can borrow another 200,000 through another lender and fsa will back the loan. But go to your local fsa office and they could help you.
