UPDATE: April 15:

We just counted up the votes and declared the winners in the first round of the Tractor Brackets this morning and we've moved on to Round 2! Check it out to see if your favorites made it through and cast your votes for the next go-round! We'll move on to Round 3 one week from today!

__________

I've seen a lot of discussions in here the last few years about which tractor's the best of all-time...now is your chance to put your money where your mouth is! Ha!

We just got our "Tractor Brackets" tournament together! Our in-house gearhead, Successful Farming magazine Machinery Director Dave Mowitz, has literally spent decades researching tractors from the last century or so. He really knows his stuff. So, we took a bunch of his information (he has tons more and we'll have more brackets in the future!) and put it in this competition so we can finally find out which one's tops!

Check out Tractor Brackets here. Have fun and talk a little smack while you're at it!

Well for deere fans I'd say  4020 or 4440.

I love my 1066 and I would trade it for anything

My top pick is a 4440 a 4020 for back in the day a jd B for international a 1066 and 7130 magnum and for back in the the day a model M
What ever the first tractor ever built was, Just a plain great invention.
IH 7488, it puts power to the ground unlike anyother four wheel drive. That DTI466 could handle all kinds of power. Hands down best tractor ever built.
The first tractor that set Ford apart from others in my opinion was the 8N. They made 1 million of them and about half of them are still running today. In the 60's it was the Ford 5000 and the Ford 7000. As to which tractor ever made out of all of the tractor manufacturers is the greatist ever made is a tough one, in my opinion its the Big Bud 16V747.

John Deere 4020 or 4440

IH 1086

AC WD45

Ford 8N

4020 for sure. Designed 50 years ago and still relevant today. On our farm, though, the best tractor for use/$$ invested is an Oliver 88, which we fed cattle with for over 30 years, every day, and only did one clutch and two valve jobs, except for regular maintenance such as batteries, alternators, etc.. This was in an estimated 7000 hours (minimum) of use, on a gas engine.

806 Farmall

In my opinion the most dependable medium sized tractor ever made. After you add a turbo and turn the fuel screw a little it will still last 10000+ hours. At least ours has. No major engine work done to it yet with 11000 hours.

Old Tractors: JD 4020 or IH 1086
New(er) Tractors: CIH 7120, there's gobs and gobs of them around here with 10,000 plus hours on them

4020 and 3020 Deere I still use mine every day

706 and 856 IH

4020 John Deere
