ahhh i hate to think about mudding out the entire crop! but i am getting ready to do it. another combine is being delivered tuesdayish and the old reliable had to have new planataries installed in the 4x4. the little grain trucks can go on the field roads...hopefully and wagons i don't think so. now for the strategy... i think i will start on the flats because i can work the ruts shut. i really hate to rut up those no-till fields so will wait for those last.

Neighbors were running today. One shelling corn the other cutting beans. Beans were 18% according to the tester. We'll start something tomorrow again. Last plan was to shell corn but plans change sometimes. Beans were wet before all the rain last week so I'd say we'll be shelling corn till wed or thurs then go back to beans. And if we are really lucky maybe I'll get to plant some wheat.

took a test in 115 day Pioneer corn, ran 18.3 today.

Mudding corn out today. 19% when they started this morning and 17% when we finished up tonight. We switched fields and varietys so I think thats where the moisture difference is coming from. Put a power chip on the 9500 and she's a beast now according to the combine driver. We could unload on the go but its way to wet in this field.

Had to put the cart behind our Cat the 8400 just could not pull it even half full the wheel tractor just spins and gets stuck. We talked about seting up the auger in the feild and a wagon then running the cart to that and then we could load the trucks on the road and keep the mud in the field. But the corn is still wet and we have 11 loads of fat hogs going out this week so we will see what we get done.

sounds like fun Matt!!

Well i did cut a little beans this evening it was on top of the world (the biggest hill in the area) i didn't cut a rut but it was pulling a little hard and i only filled the combine a little over half full before dumping, which is often in 60 bushel beans. They had some moisture in it but i will be putting it in the bin and pushing some air through it.

Got my combine stuck today but was able to shake it loose after dumping my load off...mud up to frame and the duals were packed...looks like i'll have to leave some patches of beans in the field until it dries or freezes...yipee...

well i got through the wettest field (i hope) it was pretty weird, i was cutting on the dry then suddenly i was out of contol kind like playing that mario cart game! i would be fighting with the steering wheel to keep it in the right direction. Then when i got through the mud spot the combine would rocket out because i had all 4 spinning at a higher speed than normal. the 40 next to it i didn't even make a track. very strange indeed.

We were doing corn thru standing water today. That Cat Challanger showed it true use the 8400 just spun down and got stuck. Combine (JD9660 with super singles)floated right over it. But like you said you have to steer with the brakes. Its a weird feeling to watch the Cat drive over the wet spot and then watch the cart sink behind it. We are going to run about 60 acres of corn tommrow. Around the 5 loads of fat hogs we have to load tommorw and then plan on pumping manure all night tommorw night. A lot of our corn is still 25% some over 33% so we are going to get all the manure on and also rip what we can and then come back to the corn. Wish we had not torn down all the crips would be a perfect year to fill corn cribs.

ouch!!! making ruts through the entire field is not fun. even some standing water. finally i am getting to drier fields you can make a lot better time. i cut 100 acres today even with some minimul ruttage. the worse thing about the mud is getting it in your header and in the combine.

How is harvest going for you Dale? I traveled through Iowa and Illinois on business this past weekend and there wasn't a field that didn't have a combine going fullbore. Hope harvest is going well for you and you're not having to mud it out like you thought!

Two months ago if you had told us that we would need triples on our combines to get soybeans harvested we would have said you are crazy. Well it is almost the middle of November and up here in NE SD we are about 25% done with soybeans and 0% done with corn. Soo now we are taking drastic measures and loading both of our JD9770's with a third set of tires. Not only that but we are looking at getting a grain cart with tracks but they want your left arm and your first born to trade in on it. Oh well, i think it would be fun to sing Christmas carols in the combine.
