I am a young farmer looking for a retiring farmer who would be interested in transitioning a farm over. I'm trying to find the best way to acquire land. If anyone has suggestions or information I would be interested.

Good luck! Believe Iowa has some program in place for that, if not get to working for an older farmer and hope you get the chance to take over, you're gonna have to prove yourself in that operation

Yes, the program in Iowa is called Farm On - http://www.extension.iastate.edu/bfc/farm.  We had a friend that used the program and now is in an operation that includes farm ground and a seed dealership.  The "retiring" farmer hasn't retired yet but everything is set up for the transition in the next few years.

Thanks for information I am checking it out and I hope that something works out.

My husband and I would love to find young person interested in transitioning. We have a small cow/calf operation, forage based. There is room for expansion, but we can't handle more any more cattle without help. Problem si anyone working fr us would have to have off the farm income for a while. We're in Missouri and very dry at present. 20 cows due to start calving around Sept. 1
