Anyone interested in beta testing a new web-based farm management system?

Hello everyone,

I have followed a couple of posts on the forum where people have been looking for farm management software.  I am in the process of developing a web-based farm management system.  I have already developed preliminary functions for customer management, crop & crop plan management, inventory tracking, orders, invoices, contracts, payments, equipment management, and vendor management.

There is still a lot of work to be done but the system is almost to the point that it needs to be tested by actual users.  I have made a lot of assumptions of how things should work but I need real-world feedback before I go any further.

Eventually, this will be a paid subscription service but all beta testers will get a one-year subscription for free.  The subscription doesn't start until the official launch of the service, so the testing period won't count against your subscription.  Also, if you sign up as a tester you are under NO obligation to continue with the paid service later on.

Most other farm management software is locally installed systems where the user is responsible for installing, backing-up, upgrading, and managing the computer hardware.  This is an entirely web-based system that would be secured/encrypted similar to online-banks, etc.

If anyone is interested I would like to hear from you.  You can find out more at www.efarmmanager.com.  The actual management system is not available on-line yet, but if enough people are interested in testing I will speed up the process.

And if the only comment you have is that you would never consider using a web-based system, please let me know that too.

I appreciate any feedback

Thanks,

Brett Krebs

I'm in. Let me know when you launch. I will be a lab rat.

Yeah I'd definately try it out.

I would try it out.

I would be interested.  I created something similar on salesforce.com through their Force.com platform.  So far it has been working pretty well.  There are a few negatives about their platform but it is free for 1 user to develop on.

I would be interested as well

Good deal, I appreciate the responses.  It may be several weeks before I am ready to open it up but I will contact you all as soon as things are ready.  In the meantime feel free to drop me a note if there is one part of the system that you think will help you above other parts.  If possible I am going to prioritize things according to how much value they provide.

Thanks again,

I'll help ya out there if you want.  Please let me know.

Thanks!

Id love to try it out! sounds like a great system

I would like to give everyone an update on the progress of the eFarmManager Online Farm Management System.  I have continued work on the product and hope to release the beta version within the next week or so.  For those of you that are interested in testing, I need to gather your e-mail addresses so I can send you the direct link to the site.  I don't want to open it up by placing the link on the public forum just yet.  If you are still interested please e-mail me at brett@efarmmanager.com and I will send login instructions when the site opens up.

Please remember that the site is in a beta-testing phase.  No doubt there will be bugs.  You will also have ideas on how to do things in better ways than I have done.  Please share those with me.  There is a feedback area at the bottom of each page where you can quickly fire off suggestions or bug reports.  You are also welcome to e-mail me directly if you prefer.  Any and all criticism is welcome.  I may not be able to do everything you suggest, but I want to know what ideas you have to make it a better system.

The whole site has plenty of room for improvement, but hopefully it is to the point where it will spark some ideas in your minds and I can begin to incorporate your expertise in future releases.

Thanks again for your interest so far.  I look forward to hearing from you all.
