Hi all.
I am looking to get in touch with people in the agri-tech arena. I want to get into agricultural technology, real-time field data, or precision agriculture, etc. Basically, I want to combine my love of agriculture, and knowledge of technology. I am looking to talk to people already in the fields, or if they may know somebody who is.
I am curious as to what specific jobs are out there, companies, etc. Specifically, I am looking in the Northern Illinois-Southern Wisconsin region, but I welcome input from anywhere really.
I apologize for being a little vague, but I am not quite sure how else to ask. I guess it boils down to jobs/positions/companies that work in Agriculture AND technology. Precision Ag is just one prime example that comes to mind.
I welcome any input you can offer. I will also answer more specific questions if you have them.
Thanks much,
Steve

steve,
as far as technology is concerned, i would think you could go to about any dealership (deere, case etc.) and find what you are looking for. we are precision planting dealers and the technology world is booming. From RTK Guidance to row clutches to variable rate drive to planter monitors to yield monitors. If you would be passionate about what you are doing and have the knowledge, you could be unlimited. but there is alot out there to learn. I install the monitors, clutches and variable rate motors as well as do service work and this winter has been unreal on what the technology farmers are investing in. good luck to ya!

Thanks for the input. I know the dealers will be getting very busy very soon. Do you recommend just popping in and hoping for the best, or trying to schedule some time? I would rather set a time in advance, but my fear is that if they are not currently hiring, they most likely will not want to spend any time with me to explain the technologies.

Is in-cab -to- office data a solution for anybody?
