Farmers || Future

Hey, guys and gals. I'm trying to dig up a little feedback regarding our mobile website, m.agriculture.com, for an upcoming issue of Successful Farming magazine. If you use the mobile site, which features do you like? Markets? Weather? Video? Discussion groups? Apps? Something else?

And speaking of apps, which ones do you like to use on the farm?

I'd like to put together a page on what you all are really using out on the land.

Thanks a ton!

Hi Justin

Im a farmer from Australia and I have developed an iPhone app called farm manager , this app allows farmers to record there farming information and access it at any time , I have been using this app for 12 months now and it is very handy to have all your information on you when you are out in the field . After developing this app I had a lot of feedback from users requesting a contractor section on the app so decided to release another app called farm contractor , this app helps farm contractors to record client and job details .I have now started a business with the software developer called stringybark software to manage these apps.  These two apps have been out for 12 months and are being used by 1800 farmers from around the world. I could give some free copies of the apps for the members to try if any one is interested .

You can check these apps out at www.stringybarksoftware.com or on the apple app store

Gareth, thanks for the info, and congrats on the apps. We're always interested in apps that will help farmers, so we'll keep this in mind as we research the industry. Good luck with the business!

Justin, check out this new farm management software at www.ifarmservice.com. We're launching this with an offer of one year free subscription to the first 50 users. This is a very easy and comprehensive system for small to medium size farms that tracks field records, costs, planning, sales -- it even has a retail component for CSA's and farmers' markets. We'd like to hear what you think of it! Thanks!

Hey, Kelly. Thanks for the response. The software looks like it could be of real value. Do you have any plans for a mobile site or app that allows users to update the info on the go? I could see value in that. Either way, I think you have a nice product here. Thanks again for sharing.

Justin, thanks so much for taking the time to check out the software. Glad you like it! (We're very excited about it.) Yes, it is already mobile -- it can be used wherever there's an internet connection. So farmers can input info directly from the field on their laptop, tablet, or smartphone. It's all cloud-based, so no downloading or installation is required. Thanks again, Justin. Looking forward to seeing your article.
